Well, I bought a 32gig USB flash drive and saved all my music, my pictures, and my personal documents along with all my mom's documents dealing with my paralysis and my rehabilitation and what not. My computer kept lagging up and freezing for a second every now and again, so I decided to reformat. Once I fdisk'd that mofo, my computer wouldn't reload windows.. I found out my five year old laptop's hard drive got a scratch on it, so I guess that's what we refer to as a "crash". So, I called the granny and told her I needed a new computer. Everything is CRAP besides the Alienware Extras: Alienware® Mesh Cap. Just joshing! That will be a sweet setup. I once had my grandparents purchase me an Alienware and it served me well. As you pointed out they are overpriced, but the tower looks like an aliens face....so you get what you pay for. Just be sure to reformat and put a fresh OS on it.

I spent that much on a sweet computer in 99 for college, the one I have now is 10X better and was only like $800 total. 500 gig HD, 2 gigs of RAM, pretty good audio, 22" HD Flat Panel Widescreen monitor, DVD/CD burner, and running Vista, which despite everybody's hate for it, I like way better than XP and have never had a problem with it (probably because of the 2 gigs of RAM). I guess since you didn't pay for it, it doesn't really matter, but like you yourself stated, that seems wayyyy overpriced.
